Established in 1966, Youth Science Canada (YSC) is a charity that fuels the curiosity of Canadian youth through science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) projects. We work to make sure Canadian youth have the skills and support to ask questions and find answers, and identify and solve problems.
Fun facts:
- Every year in Canada, more than 500,000 youth get involved in project-based science — about the same number of Canadian youth as are registered in minor hockey. These young science enthusiasts are Canada’s next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs!
- Our national network includes over 100 regional STEM fairs, with fairs in every province and territory.
- We are supported by more than 8,000 dedicated volunteers across the country.
- YSC organizes and runs the annual Canada-Wide Science Fair – the biggest annual youth STEM event in Canada. This is where 400+ top young scientists are invited to share their discoveries and innovations with judges and thousands of public visitors, while also competing for top prizes and over $1 million in scholarships.
- As part of Team Canada, YSC brings Canadian youth to eight different international STEM competitions and opportunities.
YSC exists so that Canadian youth can investigate scientific questions and develop innovative solutions related to current and future challenges. Learn more about YSC and our mission and vision here.
We invite you to join us by being curious, asking questions, and doing a STEM project to find your answers!
